tire pressures

Hey guys. This is my first post and I'm not quite sure where it goes so here it is. I have a 05' 2500hd chevy duramax crew cab/standard bed. I was wondering good tire pressures would be for my truck. I rarely haul anything at all, and if I do, it's a 8k lb boat+trailer. The recommended pressures are 55f and 80r as I'm sure you all know and that is what I have been running it since I got it new. It has about 65k miles currently. The tires I have on it now are not the stock 245's but Michelin LTX M/S 265's. I was just wondering what a the best pressures would be for mileage. First off Welcome to the DF.......

Now for pressure's, mine are D rated 285's, and in the front I run 50-55psi and in the rear it is 45-50psi. That is empty. Now with the load you are talking about I would air them up to 60psi in the front and 65psi (max on mine) in the rear.

I appreciate the quick responses. The tires are E rated load and max 80psi. I really shouldn't have brought the boat into the picture because as little as it moves, I could fill up the tires when need be. I'm just looking for regular everyday city driving for the best mileage. Oh and by the way mijdirtyjeep, how do those 285's fit? My 265's almost hit the front bumper when turning.
