1/8th inch gap between wheel hole and hub

Just intalled a 17 inch wheel on a 16 inch hub 8 lug. The tire
guy said there may be vibration because of the 1/8th inch gap between the wheel center hole and the hub. I know the lugs hold the tire on but the guy who installed the wheels/tires
said 6 lug wheels use a plastic spacer to fill that gap. Have not found a ring for around this hub for a 8 lug. What should I do?

The tire is centered by the chamfer of the wheel lug nuts-- not the center of the hub. IMHO

The lugs we have will hold it in place assuming your studs are all good an perfectly in line.

However on most all cars no matter what it is if you put a wheel on you have to seat it over the hub.

Now take our rear wheels for example, they arent very tight against the hub.

Its hard to say, but I doubt plastic will help.

its called "hubcentric" and usually the cheaper 'universal' wheels will not have this feature.

check this out...

i have always ran American Racing, and they have this built in. the wheels i have are made specifically for a 2500HD chevy, even though they will "fit" other models.

You seem knowledgeable in this area. What is the function of the hubcentric? Do you know if it is necessary for 8 lugs?
