Nick from NorCal Truck - please help me out with this...
Hi all, I am new here. I currently have a 2008 GMC 2500HD. I did some mods to it already (Edge Evolution, MBRP cat back exhaust, AFE intake, 275/70/18 Nitto TerraGrapplers) I just cranked the torsion bars to get the clearance in the front for the tires.
Here's the thing, I am picking up a new 2009 3500HD Dually tomorrow. I will be towing my gooseneck race car trailer which weighs about 12,000lbs or so loaded. I felt the dually would be much better for towing this trailer. I plan to do similar mods to it but I need recommendations from you guys who are obviously well informed about what works best.
Here is what I plan to do:
1. 19.5" wheels with either 225/70 tires (approx. 32" tall) or 245/70 tires (approx. 33" tall) (Does this make sense or am I better to use 17" wheels?)
2. Some power programmer (my only experience has been with my current trucks edge evolution)
3. Exhaust (not sure what to get - cat back or what??)
4. Air intake
5. Leveling kit (instead of just cranking the torsion bars) (is this worth it?)
6. ???? any other recommendations
PLEASE give me some recommendations about EACH of the above items and anything else you guys would recommend doing.
Also, do I need a EGT gauge and probe or will the factory one be okay (my current truck has that included with the edge evo). If so, what do you recommend?
Sorry for so many questions on my first post, but I really need help on this. I need to order the stuff right away so I can have it installed before I head out for the next race.
Thanks.
If you would like to keep the DPF then an Exhaust would only help with the looks, and Banks would be the best tuner for you in that case as well.
If not then PPE, Quadzilla, Banks would all be good choices.
also, a turbo back with a DPF and Cat delete would provide the best overall performance gains.
Depending on the Tuner you choose you may be able to use their monitor for gauges, like on the Banks PDA, but you could also install boost and Pyro gauges that would get the job done as well.
Banks super scoop has the best overall fit and finish and the most performance gain of any other intake for your truck, especially on the highway...
Well, I can comment on the level kit. Yes it is worth doing. If you just crank the T bars eventually your suspension parts will wear out prematurely. The best level kit on the market is the cognito. Research this before you decide. Check out [url="http://cognitomotorsports.com"] or http://norcaltruck.com They both have good information so you can decide.
