I've enjoyed reading your forum occasionally, and wanted to see if I could get some valuable advice... for free!
I've got an 07 Chev 2500 (and I don't know what L# it is!), got about 40,000 miles and I'm due to change the tires.
My driving is about 50/50 town/hwy, and about once a week, I pull a 9000# load (say about 100 miles/week towing.) (Bobcat/hitch trailer)
I seldom get off the concrete. I live in south Louisiana, so snow/ice only occur once every 5 years, or less.
Looking for best handling/mpg/ride/wear... and of course, decent looks.
My truck is as stock as they get, and I kinda like my stealthiness.
I'm considering Mich's LT265/R75-16 M/S, on the OEM wheels. (This size, based on some of the posts I've read here, this tire b/c of reviews I've read, and I've had LTX's on lighter trucks I've had, seemed to do ok.)
Experience with these? Thoughts on this size?
First welcome to the DF!!! Glad to have ya. Next The Michelin Ltx is an awesome tire. I have a set on my Lmm and it is a CC dually with about 3k worth of bed on the back. I have had the Michelins on it for 27k miles and they do not look like they are even half worn. I tow a 10k trailer pretty regular as well and still nice slow even wear. I rotate every 10k miles,
If you want to know about the L# it is the engine code if you have a classic it is a LBZ if it is the new body style it is a LMM. Basically the same motor just the LMM had a hair more horsepower and torque. But it has all the emissions crap on it.

The LTX M/S is a great street tire. . Expensive as hell but seem to be worth it. If you are looking at that route id check the Michelin AT2 its an awsome tire as well

I just got back from testing the LTX MS2/Costco's LTX LT2, I would wait and purchase that LTX. There is a 70000mile rating on the P size for sure and may even be on the LT size. The LTX M\S2 is the best street occasional off road tire in the market, if you do 30-40% gravel however the LTX AT2 is the best bar none, The AT2 does everything the bfg KO does off road and is better on the highway.
I have the AT2s and i really like them. The ride is awesome and the step up from 265 to 285 didn't really affect the mileage (Mostly because i went from a heavy E rating to a D with the AT2). The tires are quiet and rain traction is better than stock. They are a little more expensive and don't come with a 45K warranty like the Dura Grapplers i was going to purchase but i was told they would last just as long and at 10lbs lighter per tire the mpgs weren't affected just because the weight. Also my father does a lot of contract work with Bridgestone/Firestone and Michelin in their South Carolina plants and and he says the tolerances and quality controll in Michelin tires are second to none. Just a little bit more info on why i'm sold on the Michelins.

I guess I've gotta LBZ then. Early 07 Classic, 2x4. Bought it in March of 08, my first 3/4 ton, my first diesel... I was really reluctant about driving a bigger truck as my daily driver... but I love it.
From your comments, I'm going to keep leaning toward the LTX 265/75R-16's. Gonna hold off another week or so, shop around, make sure that's what I want... have bought from TireRack in the past with pretty good experience. Price-wise... $50/tire more than the "usual".... Seems easily worth it to me.... hopefully they'll be under me for at least a couple years. (blown more than that on.... well.... nevermind....)
Of course, I'll also check out some forum sponsors before cashing in.
I did consider the AT2's, but I really seldom get off the road... and when I do, its not very far, and I'm towing a vehicle that can pull me out if needed... so I think I'll save the few extra bucks... and MAYBE not pick up as much gravel. (that's one thing I like about my balding tires... no rocks!)
Load range E seems to be pretty normal and acceptable for 3/4 ton trucks, huh?
Maybe you should talk to the michelin reps, they do not sell seconds or blems any more not since the late 70's. I can give you Michelins Phone numbers if you want. But I can assure you that COSTCO sells the real deal same mspns and dot numbers as everyone else gets.
