I have an 06 2500hd stock height now and want to run 305/70r16 but would like to know if they will fit with a leveling kit installed or will I need a 4 inch lift. With a leveling kit only would a 285/75r16 fit and do I need a special tool take the torsion bars loose if I level it?
I have 285s on 16x8 rims and no lift in the front. I only have a very minor rub when at full lock and going over a bump. If you use stock wheels, they work even better seeing that they don't push the tires out past the fenders like mine are now. I did however use a few zipties to tie back the fenderliner on the driver's side. Each truck is slightly different though.

you can fit 305's on a GM truck but you need wider wheels then the stock 7" wheels so i would highly recommend just staying with the 285's and all you need to turn the T/Bars up is a 3/4" socket and find the torsion keys under the truck and give them both roughly 3 turns..if you want something a little taller then the 285's but not as wide as the 305's go with the 295-75R16..

I agree if you run bigger than 285's you really need a wider wheel. some people i know run 305's with just cranking the t bars. no problems if you have a gmc and it rubs you can remove the plastic piece between the grill and bumper and raise the bumper for a little more room and it looks good

Most people who are all stock need to crank the T bars and do trimming. So on a suburban..which has less of a lift....I would say you would have to mod it quite a bit. I might be wrong, but I know a 2500 is quite a bit higher than a stock 1500 or suburban..
