It has to be a 10 ply. This is for 02 Chevy Duramax crew cab, with a Fisher MM 2 plow on the front, the reason for the 10 ply. I've had three sets of BFG TA/KO's, two were on my old 2500 GMC regular cab and they were okay. But the set that is wearing out now on my diesel did not fare well at all. From the 245's on now I'm not sure if I'll go to the 285 or stop at the 265's(mileage and fit). Not to many places to tire shop in ME, best choice at Sears appears to be the Wrangler SilentArmor, or BFG. They 'might' be able to order Nitto's. Not doing too much heavy towing, yet, but it gets used well in the snow and mud, but also putting a lot of miles on it so a real aggressive tire is out.
What's another good tire to handle this?
(I'll put talking about a lift for the front to handle weight and accomodate tires in other forum.)
So your trying to decide what tire to get? The nitto's arent to bad. I plow in the winter time for a friend of mine and he actually just gets cheap tires because no matter what they where out quick! If you want something to look decent you might want to get a set of wheels for the summer and use your stockers and cheap tires for the winter. If I where you Id stick with the 265's though. My buddy had 285's onone of there plow trucks and it rubbed like crazy with the plow up. IIRC the plow was a meyers max.

It does sound like I should stop with the 265's. It would be nice to have the 85's but they would never fit without the help of a lift first.
I was investigating to see if there were opinions on any other 10 ply load E tires performing decent in the snow and mud. There was a spot this past winter which was about 15' long that had like a 5-6" gradual slope, that's it, and I'd be stuck every time, with six logs and three sand bags in the back. So yeah, I was shopping for a different tire.
In case I can't afford new tires again next spring I'd be running the new ones for quite a while, so a real gnarly tire is out. Something like the Dura grappler or Silentarmor looked good for this, just hadn't heard how there were doing in the sloppy stuff, same with the Dueler.
Thanks.
I had my dueler out a few time in it and it ddnt do bad! The Nitto terra grappler is a soft tire so I think it would do well in the snow. I have seen the dura grappler and its like a street tire so I think that would be out. Look around to your local tire shops. Where I get tires from they have a Kumho kl-78. Its like a off brand tire but there cheap and IMO work extramly well.
I know what you mean by the truck not going anywhere. The place I have has a 01 reg cab 8ft bed with a 8.1. If its loaded with a pallot of salt it goes o.k at best. When its unloaded it barely moves! Then they have a 92 2500 thats seriously a tank. I have plowed driveways with a steep grade up hill and it doens even strain.

Well, I went with the GY SilentArmor in LT 265/75r16. Right off it steered a lot easier and was definitely quieter. I like that. They filled the wheel well up just a little better, I had the front bumper measured and it was barely an inch lift. We'll see how much the mileage changes. Hopefully they'll do me well in the winter also. Thanks.
Glad you figured it out! Ya you said your truck is stock? If you can post the mileage difference. Im interstred to see. I really didnt drive my truck stock with the 265's on it!
