the way your suppose to measure it is realy a 6.5" wide wheel since you measure from inside the wheel not the outside.

That is werd,Could it have anything to do with the winters you guys have in that area.I ran my 01 2500HD with th 8,1 with 285/75/16 for alittle over 6 years like that and they never looked like that.Good info I only run 265/75/16 on the Dmax.

the more weight the faster it does it so the diesels will show it faster then the gas engine equipped trucks..
in all honesty it doesn't realy matter what air you have it will do it..
also something else that i should mention tires with what they call rim gaurd will do it qicker also.for instance the BFG comes with a rim gaurd. BFGoodrich Tires | All-Terrain T/A® KO | Tire Overview notice how the tire comes past the wheel, thats a rim gaurd.
not sure if the salt affects this or not we have only worked with wheels that have seen salt but i would be highly surprised if it did.

until the lmm style trucks the 1500hd, 2500, and 2500hd had 16x6.5 alum. or 16x6.5 steel; the 3500 srw only had 16x7 steel. i've never seen nor heard of such a thing but i've never ran bigger than 285's..........thats scary for the amount of wieght i push on these trucks

I got a question, what is the width of the wheels on a 01 chevy z71? Bc thats what i had before and i ran 285s on them no prob. I even had three sets on them and never had a prob.
They look like this.
