heres a few pics of one with 1 set of 285-75R16 tires and roughly 1 half years time later this is how they looked today when i changed out the tires

there were some serious outside factors there, i would say overinflation, heavy pulling, and long distances.....plus obvious abuse, that much dirt packed up in the beads of oversized tires, and were they froze on? i see the hammer marks on the back side...this is however typical wear on big trucks when they are in the 800k - 1m mile area...what did the vehicle look like? were they all like that?curious ,thanks
obtw- you can service that wheel if you really wanted to....use a grinder stone on a buffer and grind the inner lip off with a up and away motion, then use a heavy wire wheel in the oppisite direction down and towards to pull the lip smooth.... but you can only do it once.... and i wouldn't do it to my own wheels

these wheels were on a 00 2500HD RC LB equipped with the 6.0L Gas engine with 180,000 odd miles(going off my memory)and that was the 3rd set of 285's he had run and i do know that for a fact because we do all of his tires and no they come off quite easy without a sledge..
i have seen quite a few wheels like this and the only ones that are like this is on the 3/4T and 1T trucks with these wheels and wider tires then what the 6.5" wide wheels are recommended for.yes i believe having more PSI increases the wear but i wouldnt realy call it over inflation..
i never notised it on the 1/2tons so i would say load/weight and PSI play the biggest role in this.

also if you dont have wide enough wheels for your tires it can and will cause premature tire wear..

i have noticed only slight wear with the 265's but only on tires with the bead gaurd, the extra rubber that covers the lip of the wheel and even then it is hardly noticable after 75,000miles.

Maybe it's time for GM to throw in proper wheels and $800 285/75r16 on my $35,000 truck.

I mean, seriously the stock tires are a joke. I used to have to got in 4wd if I was going up the slightest hill on grass. That is NOT cool when you have the local "big ass diesel"
