Danger:big tires on OEM wheels

we have been having problems with aluminum OEM wheels on the Duramax wearing out on the wheel bead but didn't know what causes it for a long time but now we know so i'll try my best to explain the problem and will post pics if i get time..
Problem:the OEM wheels are 6.5" wide and if you install to wide of a tires the tires move enough on the wheels that it will wear the bead of the wheels,i'm talking about the lip where the wheel weights hook onto.it can will end in wheel failure.i'll post pics and you can see then what i mean.this is a warning if you want bigger tires you need to do aftermarket wheels.

Wow I have never heard of that! If you could get some pics that would be great! That is strange, it seems to me that the wheel wouldnt really move against the bead causeing ANY wear. For the amount of tires you sell how many wheels have you seen wear out?

some of the 2007.5 and 2008's that came with the 17" wheels are 7.5" wide. I've never heard of anything else, I am pretty sure that you either have a 16x 6.5 steel, chromed steel, or polished aluminum wheel. The new aluminum wheels on the new trucks are 17x7.5. I know this because its the only reason I got these wheels because I wanted a bigger wheel and tire, but I'm not a big fan of the wheels so I put pro comps on with bfg's

all the classic with 16" wheels come in a 6.5" wide and it is only with to wide a tire this will happen,it took us almost 2YRs to figure out what cause this and yes after it go's long enough it will wear the wheel bead to nothing and then what happens it will cut into the tire bead causing leaks and blowouts and yes i have seen it that bad that they blow so i thought i would warn you all of this so don't put 285's on your stock Alluminum wheels or else plan on doing wider wheels allthough 265's don't do that.285's equal like 7.5-8.0 wide wheels
heres a few pics of one with 1 set of 285-75R16 tires and roughly 1 half years time later this is how they looked today when i changed out the tires

truth be told, higher the air pressure the faster it happens and also the more weight that you run will speed the process along also..i haven't run into any aftermarket wheels doing this since they have a thicker bead on the wheel then the thin OEM ones, also i have noticed some of the older style Dodge and Ford wheels doing the same thing and its only caused by to wide of a tire for the wheel width..
