need to order tires for the shop truck. we are going with Nitto Dura Grapplers but im not sure which size to go with?

its a 2005 crew cab dullie 2WD.
i was thinking as big as possable so as to try and lowwer rpms at high way speed as it still has a 5 speed in it?

I have 265's on my 01 and don't have any problems with towing a 12000 lb 5th wheel. My friend says that he has problems with 265's rubbing each other but he is pulling a 15000 lb gooseneck loaded cattle trailer. I guess it depends how much tongue weight or load you will have.

Plus you will have a little less pulling power with the smaller original tires.

235/85/16 will be the biggest you can go without spacers. That is what's on mine and they have never touched.

i hate metric! how much bigger (taller) are 235/85/16 vs the 215/85/16 that came on it? and they don't make the Dura Grapplers in those sizes so what is a good all sesion high way tire that lasts a long time and is quitet?

The 215s are 30.4 inches and the 235s are 31.7 inches. If your wanting a good hwy tire then go with Michelin LTX M/S. They are pricey, but you will get the most miles out of them. They do good in the rain and snow but you will get hung up in wet grass with them.

If you're loading to the max and/or hauling heavy, lower rpms with bigger tires does not always equate to better mileage.

I need performance in tires over longevity, so I run the Revos and they DO perform. Very well made, low weights needed to balance, they’re a 50k mile tire and I guess that's about right but, I don't run the tread down like most people. I can't gamble in the traffic conditions that we must travel here.
