I'd do it. I'd run the h2's personally. With the 285's they'd fit fine and with minimal rubbing and not have to worry about the narrow factory chevy aluminum wheel since the h2's are 17x8.5" and the Factory alums are 16x 6.5" But you jump up in price going to a 17" tire.
Tireboyz Demaxin had a thread on here about putting too wide of tire on the factory chevy wheel and the bead getting worn out and tires coming off. That's why i'm suggesting the h2's.
H2's can be had for anywhere from $200-500. I bought my Chrome H2's with the 315 Bfg's with 3k miles on them for $700. That was for 5 wheels and tires. Ebay and keep checkin the classifieds on some other diesel sites. There's always H2's on there.

I got 33/12.5/r17 on mine and a readylift and with a lighter guy dring and steering it was fine but when i drove it it rubbed a little. Took probally 1/2" of plasic around tire and no problems since. Looks real agressive too.
