I think that could be your issue. I'll look into it some more. Sadly I don't have a two piece drive shaft so I know that isn't my problem.

SOLVED. After taking a ride with a mechanic and getting his confirmation that the issue was definitly in the driveline, i took it home and pulled down the shaft to inspect it. Unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly what the issue was, because I tackled two together. First, the front u joint had an obviously bad bearing. It was catching at a certain point and took some effort to push through the rough spot. Second, the rubber mounthe around the carrier bearing was SHOT. I replaced both the carrier bearing and the front u joint. And now it rides like a dream. I attached some pics of the hashed carrier bearing.
