Loud click on take off from stop

Hello all.

I have a 2006 2500 HD 4WD Allison Duramax that is experiencing a loud click that is coming from underneath the truck, unable to determine if from the trans, transfer case, rear end or driveshaft. It doesn't do it all the time and appears to do it more when going straight, or turning left. Sometimes it is louder than other times it happens. the truck has about 170K miles on it. Everything underneath visually looks ok, all fluids are fine. No vibration at speed or any other abnormalities, just the loud click when accelerating from a stop.

Thanks

Had/have a similar issue with my 06 ECSB. Have you checked/greased the driveshaft splines at the t-case? That seemed to take care of one noise I had but I still have another click/pop noise when taking off from a stop.

The one that remains seems to come from somewhere in the cab area or front of the truck.

I would check the motor mounts, if they are cracked, you probably wont see them, but they do that cling noise.

Are they all visible from crawling under/around the truck?

Might require being a monkey, but should be able to if you pull wheel liners

Most of the time you wont be able to, cause the engine forces the mount shut, but if you can have someone step on the brake while the truck in gear and try to rev a little at a time you should be able to see the engine lifting and probably hear the sound it makes.

Just tried it on my way home from work to see if I could duplicate the noise with the brakes on. Nothing but a little spin on the tires

Sorry for kind of hijacking your post Blumaruder...

I have also noticed that on occasion I will hear the same noise when coming to a stop leading me to believe it may be suspension related (ball joints? Control arms?)

Also, 2006 ECSB 4X4 133k miles. Drivetrain and suspension is stock.

If coming from the front end, jack the front of your truck and with the wheels off the ground move your wheels on a 12/6 motion and then from 3/9 motion, if anything is loose or worn out you should be able to tell.

Had a buddy with me this weekend who got out and stood next to the truck to listen. He said he feels like it's coming from around the middle of the truck. The noise also seems to be getting worse/more common. I was getting it when I had it in drive and would go back and forth with hitting the brakes and letting off without hitting the throttle.
