Is the Fan Clutch?

2016 GMC 2500HD, fan stays engaged until I hit 50MPH then disengages, is this the fan clutch or a relay issue. Dealer wants 125 just to diagnose, don't want to pay 125 for them t tell me is the fan clutch.
advise

Would help if we had more info.

When the truck does first start of the day, the fan clutch engages to assist the engine in warming up. Obviously, the colder the outside air temp is, the longer it will remain engaged in this scenario. Here in NE FL, my clutch remains engaged for about 5 mins with the outside temp of ~ 80 degrees.

After it disengages, it does not re-engage unless I am towing. Otherwise, it never engages other than cold start.

If you fan clutch stays engaged without anything in tow until 50 MPH you may have a clutch issue.

I live in South Florida, temperature here is usually 80/90 degrees, even in the am. From the moment I start the truck in the am the fan clutch is engaged, but as soon as i hit 50mph it disengages. I drive 10 miles to work and at every traffic light it is the same, engaged until 50mpg then disengaged. I would think that if the fan clutch was bad, it would not disengage, but it does every time, I know that this clutch works with a fluid inside and when viscosity is less or is hot, it will not engage as easy but unfortunately mine is doing it all the time. I got a code of p0495 and p0526, all related to Hi fan and fan speed sensor, still not positive that it is my fan clutch.
BTW this started happening 3 weeks back when I let my son use my truck. Dont' think it was anything he did, but thats the sequence of events.

Thank you Ron, I have scheduled and cancelled a visit to the dealership twice already, trying to figure this out before I have to pay to get it diagnosed, thought that i cant be the only person going thru this issue.

Did you look in your fuse box? Most relays are there.

The one thing bothers me the most is that my truck sounds like an International truck when taking off, other than that, no overheat or other issues, at highway speeds fan doesnt engage. I think Im going to bite the bullet and buy a fan clutch, it is 165.00 on Ebay ( oem replacement ) vs. dealer 125.00 for diagnostics, then 245.00 for fan clutch.
