Finally Purchased a Duramax

After months of research and going back and forth on a cummins or duramax, I finally made a purchase this week. Picked up a 2013 2500 with 144k miles. Excited to start playing around with it, I've already ordered a few parts and I'm in the research phase of some others!

I do have a question, the dealership told me this is a Rough Country 6" lift, does it look like a 6" lift to you all? Tires are 325/60/20; looking at RC's website they dont' have a 6", just a 4" and a 7.5". I'd like to lower it down some, just need to know which company to contact to find out what I need to do to get it down an inch or so.

The Duramax, Power Stroke, and Cummins from that era were very prone to emissions systems issues, so keep that in mind.

You did months of research and still bought an LML? Hope it was cheap!

Congrats on your purchase brother, looks like a very nice ride. I'm really not trying to rain on your parade, I just hope it treats you right so you're happy with it. Unfortunately the LML track record has been a little less than stellar when it comes to emission systems issues and the fuel system.

So I'd recommend doing your research to start treating it right first thing. Things like lift pump, added filtration, fuel additives, etc. That's up to you, I just like to ensure new owners are aware. Once aware of the issues, I feel most Dmax owners elect to do the right thing, even at additional expense, to ensure a happy truck, and owner!

Modify away, worst case, there ain't nothing you can't fix. Entire fuel system is only about $3k now if you put it on yourself.

Emissions system delete fixes all the other although that just became much more complicated. If you're from Indy, I'm sure you can still find someone just up the road from you to do it if you decide that's what you want to do. 2 hours north of you is the hotshot capital of the world. Personally, if I'd had to deal with all the crap on mine, there's no way I'd still own it. It was constant failures, limping, and expensive repairs. All you could depend on was problems.

But to end on a good note, again, super cool truck.

Good luck!!

I had one and put over 170k working miles on it. I had one def tank replaced due to heater failed. Thats it. Never had ANY fuel system or other emission problems and it ran perfect. I always ran name brand fuels, changed oil and filter every 3-4 k miles and fuel filter every other oil change. I didn't run the crap out of it by trying to operate it like a gas motor and mash the go pedal at every stop light.
One of the best trucks I ever owned.
If you want a POS truck go find a mid 90's Chevy with the make believe Detroit in it-- wouldn't pull a sick whore off a pisspot!
