headlights upgrades options

So this fall my original headlights finally crapped out. water inside and reflectors were failing.
I ordered a set off Amazon and they have HORRIBLE light patterns and i can't see worth a crap.

Looking for source for nice quality plug and play for my girl.
Not a real fan of the projector look, and not looking for surface of the sun bright like the HID mods.
Just a nice quality set of lights with a slight upgrade over stock, tinted if available.

There is so much crap out there with the aftermarkets; fit is off, mtg pin hole too small to fit, optics....seems to be a mystery word.

These are worth a try;
https://www.1aauto.com/search?q=head...005&model=2158

Fit is good, low beam optics are good. High beams...okay, just different.
Excellent Customer Support.
Might also consider the 9012/9011 upgrade bulbs (notch trim needed to fit - DIY thread on it).
Although, a new set of 9006/9005 bulbs will be fresh and bright, compared to your years old bulbs that lose lumens with age.

I did find (I believe) your reply on another post with this information.

Thanks
I have had hit or miss luck with head light replacements over the years on vehicles. Some great most CRAPOLA!

Agreed.
I do a lot of night driving, so it's a thorn with me on how much crap is out there....and you never know until you plug 'em in and try.

The best would be OE....but those are increasingly hard to find, and 4x the $$ if you do.

The craptastic quality is one reason I would only look at using the OEM headlights. They wont fog, haze, leak, nearly as quick as offbrands will. And the light pattern/output will be the best. As its a chevy, definitely look into swapping the 9011/9012 bulbs in as replacements for the 9005/9006.

I just ordered a set of OEM ones from an online dealer. I know they will throw a good pattern.

Also ordered some of the 9012 & 9011 bulbs to do that upgrade in them.

Thanks for the input guys

I went to warranty another set of the parking/bumper lights today.

When purchased (fleabay), they came with a lifer warranty.
Tired of the leaking/condensation/fogging up ones, that lead to dissolving the finish on the reflector (black now), I said "okay, I'm game....last ones I'll ever buy".

So I'm looking for the invoice (2016) and click on the link of old, they still sell the same item, but it's $3 more and they changed it to a 10 year warranty.

Okay, 2016....we're still good. Then I got the typical response that has become a regular thing in the online market, with the much heralded long term warranty claims at point of sale.....

They issued a UPS sticker to return the items, refunding the $$ instead of addressing their poor quality item.

One more scam angle to watch out for when buying lights.
I'm just glad they didn't demand that I foot the freight bill to return 'em (cough, cough 1A headlights, cough cough).

i bought a set of stock like housings from LMC truck for my 01 that were great. built well and lasted years. They were still in perfect shape when the truck was traded in. There not fancy with halos and such, but they are clear, quality, and fit.

Factory are the way to go.

I searched around last year for factory lights and found many GM dealers on Amazon and Ebay competing to be the cheapest. I bought a set for my 04 and Smart Ass Jr's 05. The total was about $450-$475 after freight and tax.

They came with new bulbs also.

Jr claimed they are brighter than his old lights plus 30" lightbar. No need to spend money on the upgrade bulbs. Anything brighter would just be rude to everyone else. I definitely aimed mine down to not be a dick.

Post back how they work.

Consider a set of film covers so they last longer.
You can also specify yellow for the fogs and keep the clear color for the rest.
Made in 'murica! 5 yr warranty (hope it's not a refund warranty, as stated above)
