Crazy fuel guage readings

2016 LML. About every 10 times, when I start the vehicle, the fuel gauge will show empty.....and "Low Fuel" light comes on. If I sit for up to 10 minutes, or longer, the fuel gauge slowly climbs back to where it is accurate.

I have a Trax3 37 gallon automatic-filling auxiliary fuel tank in the bed. It automatically fills main tank, and has its own gauge. During these times, it flits back and forth between normal, and "SNDR MSO" message, and shows the same 0 percent in Main tank. Then sometimes, the Trax3 guage shows correct main tank readings even while the vehicle DIC shows empty.

It never stays empty.......it will revert slowly back to normal after a while.

Ideas?????

Ya, eliminate your auto fill if you can, that IMO is your problem, install a toggle switch if itís electric or a electric normally closed solenoid on a switch if itís gravity so you can control the transfer, forget about the auto fill luxury.
This confuses the computer part that monitors the fuel level.

I have electric fuel pump and electric normally closed solenoid wired on the same switch for double protection with hopes that fuel wonít flow with out my control, in case one fails.
This works pretty flawless when you start fueling slowly using 3/8Ē fuel line hose, then shut off the fuel transfer when the fuel gauge gets to about 3/4 tank, the gauge will continue to rising slowly close to full after the flow is shut off.

If you allow the fuel level get to high when transferring, you could also have the issue your having.
