From 2500 Duramax to 2016 Canyon Duramax minimax
I sold my 2005 CCSB 4x4 LLY a while back. Truck was great but I just got tired of driving it around town so much and my heaviest tow these days is about 5000-6000#s.
Today, I bought a 2016 GMC Canyon CCSB SLT 4x4 with the 2.8 minimax.
I drove to a dealer about 50 miles away to find the one I wanted, bought it, drove around in the city for the afternoon then hit the interstate for the ride home. I set the cruise on 70 and the mpg was slowly but steadily climbing until I got home. When I hit my exit ramp, it was showing 27.8 mpg at 153 miles.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the truck performs.

I've still not seen one in-person. Local dealer claims to have sold 4 but I think they're full of crap.
I've barely got over 500 miles so I took it easy but I was very impressed with how the truck towed and handled my boat.
I estimate my boat to be 5000-6000lbs loaded and the truck did as good as the 2013 Z71 that I traded in for it. Actually I think the little diesel downshifted less because of the low rpm torque.
I've owned several 3/4 & 1 ton trucks and the mini diesel is definitely not a heavy duty truck. But, if it holds up and turns out to be solid then it may be the ideal truck for me. It tows the size boats that I have, it is a diesel with low end torque, it has enough comfortable room for my family of four and it gets good mpg.
It's still early in judging mpg but the DIC is showing 25 mpg in town mixed driving & 30-31 mpg on interstate at 70-73 mph. I was showing about 15 mpg towing but guys are reporting better mpg after the engine loosens up.
These trucks look cool. I have yet to test drive 1.
I picked it up today from having a few accessories installed and was glad to have it back.
New tonneau cover and swing boxes.
A short trip of interstate and highway driving.
A little mixed open highway and city driving.
I did my first fill up and recorded the mileage so I'll calculate it accurately at the next fill up.
Nice setup...I have an LMM with low miles and I'm contemplating a "new" truck myself. A friend bought one and I am waiting to see it in person.

I have about 8500 miles on it now. So far I've been very pleased. It tows my 23' center console boat without issue and the fuel mileage is pretty good.
I hand calculated my mileage for the first 7000 miles. The DIC shows 1 mpg "happy" every time versus the hand calculations.
Lifetime mileage is 24-25 mpg. This is 70% in town and 30% interstate driving with several 100 mile round trips towing the boat.
On a long interstate run I consistently get 30-32 mpg depending on whether I drive 70-75 mph.
I did take a 100 mile trip on back roads with a few red lights along the way. Average speed was 60 mph and the truck was showing 35 mpg on the DIC which would be actual 34.
For a mid sized truck it's a stout platform.
