2019 Duramax ceramic coated

So I just had my 2019 LTZ Z71 professionally ceramic coated. Itís a Midnight edition, so I felt it was a good investment. The truck only has 2k mikes on it and looked great going to the detailer. I was blown away at how good it looked when I picked it up! Iíve got the Banks derringer, 5Ē exhaust, ram air and Wehrli intake horn on order. Thatís going to be it for now. Maybe a 4Ē life this summer, but I donít want to change the way the truck rides. I really donít miss climbing in and out of my Dodge and itís nice not having my wife complain about it and how shitty it rides.

There are different levels of doing it. My truck was stripped, buffed and 2 coats.

Ceramic coating is the best way to protect your paint and make the truck easier to wash.

I have an appt May 1st to have my truck coated.

You pay for the level of detail/paint correction prior to the coating. Make sure every swirl and micro scratch is buffed out before its coated, because the coatings are very hard to get off!

It is hard to "justify" it, but I think protecting the paint from swirls and scratches makes the high expense worth it. I also agree that photos dont do the coating justice.

Usually the paint correction can cost as much as the ceramic coating depending on your paint condition. My brand new 2017 (230 miles) needed a day of paint correction right from the factory. About 10 spots needed extra work as there was light scratching in the clear. He begged me to have the dealer skip the exterior even leaving the stickers on the truck. He says the dealers are the worst in prepping new cars and he wished they would just give them to him unmolested from the factory.

Very true. I asked my detail guy if they give a discount if the vehicle was new, and they said basically there is little to no way to avoid some micro scratches in the paint, which requires a full detail and paint correction.

I got my truck last August, so I opted to get it undercoated in the winter and let him shine it up for the summer.
