Transmission swap

I have a 1992 Chevrolet K2500 6 lug 4x4. The truck has a 6.2 diesel and a turbo 350 transmission. I thought they came with a 700r4 in that year but being a K2500 I wanted to beefier 4 speed. I read the 4l80e was used from 91-98 with this engine. My question is what electronics am I needing to account for? Length difference? I assume I'll need a new converter but will it bolt to the current flex plate? Will I need a new driveshaft or is there an adapter kit? Will the same Tcase work? Would it be smarter to just use a mechanical 700r4 and not mess with electronics?
