Oil in the intake on my lml

Hello,
I was putting some def in my truck and noticed there was a little oil around my intake temp sensor, I pulled the hose off to take a look and there is an oily residue inside the hose and on the throttle valve plate. Is this an issue and what causes it.

It's caused by the pcv. If there is enough build up it can cause the trubo to get out of balance. Alot of us get a pcv reoute kit. Check the vendor section. Kit is cheap. Also a lot of people get the resonator delete as well.

Residue, yes.
Unlikely any measurable accumulation, not with the massive volume of air being pushed thru from the turbo.
Not sure what unbalanced issues there would be, downstream of the turbo.

If there is enough oil residue on trubo blades dust can collect on them, this is what can cause unbalanced condition. Yes I cleaned residue and rerouted pcv.

Where would the 'dust' come from, aft of the air filter element?

Just so I understand. You have owned trucks with dirt getting past the filter and did not investigate to where it was coming from, or attempted to stop it?

technically he did not say he owned the truck but i agree, there are bigger issues at that point than turbo dust buildup lol.

To the OP, yes, some oil accumulation inside the pipes is normal, as stated it is residue from the PCV system that gets re-routed into the intake to be burned in the engine to reduce hydrocarbon emissions from the truck. First gen duramax engines dumped this waste gas to the atmosphere instead of ingesting it. I just pulled the intake off my truck, i can snap a picture of the throttle plate and grid heater if you want to compare.

If its building enough oil/dust/whatever up on the compressor wheel you have bigger problems. It would take quite a bit of oil or dust to make the wheel to become unbalanced to the point of affecting the shaft and causing it to contact the cover.
