Hello group. I recently bought a 2019 2500 Z71. I pull a 36’ fifth wheel RV. I live in Florida. I bought a Banks CAI but am apprehensive to install it. I wanted to know what people’s thoughts are regarding if the Banks CAI can cause problems with the truck? I am sure it could void my warranty but will it reduce the life of my engine? I’m general what does everyone think about these? Good or bad. Thanks.

Doesn't your stock hood intake provide CAI?

Personally i would save my money and return it and keep the OEM set up. The 19 already has a functioning hood for plenty of cold air that will do the job. You will have to delete your warranty before you're in need of an aftermarket cold air intake and by the sounds of it that's not something you're interested in doing.

Send it back and get some gauges with that money

With the factory RAM air if you want more or feel the need for more airflow just install a aftermarket OEM drop-in flowing airfilter in your stock box.
Probably about 10% of the cost for Banks CAI for pretty much the same ending results.

I would personally send it back. Granted it is a different design, but the banks CAI i had on my 01 would constantly loose the filter at the clamp and would end up rattling around in the bottom of the box while the intake was in full bypass without a filter element connected. total garbage quality plastic.

Also as others stated, you should have the ram air hood already for CAI, i doubt you need any more air flow on a stock truck.

Hahaha 4 people agreed and the thread hasn't been completely butchered. Mark it down as a win.

At least GM finally figured out that the Dmax performs a little better with more airflow being available to get sucked in, even stock.
It only took GM 18 years to finger that one out, luckily for the consumer most of us figured that out years ago.

Apples to Oranges....output is higher than previous gens.
And now the butt-ugly front end is for the substantially larger fan action.

As I said, even stock which meant older models.
You gots to try it and compare all the numbers before and after before you bash it, otherwise the bash doesn't mean squat.

The fronts not all that bad, much better than the models before the LMM with bug eyes for lights.
