Toms LB7 Resurrection

I bought this "04 LB7 in '06 with 75k on it. I used it to pull the racer and it's trailer all over the place, drove it back and forth to work, hauled all sorts of things with it, from open trailers to dumps.

It's predominately stock other than an Edge w/attitude on it. The fuel system is shot, I had a leak in a hose at the tank, it sucked in air, the injectors are the originals as near as I can tell.

So it finally laid down and died. Not having the time, or energy, I did what all good red necks do, I parked it out by the barn. It's got around 180k on it now.

Now i have the time and energy to fix it. It needs injectors, so I'm taking it down and going to fix whatever needs done, upgrade it to a Nice Bad Ass daily driver and farm truck.

One of the heads is damaged where the glow plug screws in, so we're going down to head gaskets for sure.

Did I mention I'm old yet? Or my back is shot from years of abuse? That's been part of the hold up as well, I'm just not tough enough to spend hours on end leaning over a fender...

Anyhow, the cabs coming off. I'm hoping to remove it and set it on one of the trailers, so I can free the lift back up. I'm not in a hurry, and may need the lift before the chassis is ready to set the cab back down onto it. It's got some rust on it, so I may go ahead and put rockers and cab corners on it while it's apart. (And a Cowl Hood)

Upgrades will include intake and exhaust, lift pump, tune, exhaust manifold, studs, whatever we find worn or abused, and whatever mods need to be completed to make us stout but reliable. (I'll be looking for suggestions, but I do have a spreadsheet started.)

I hope to keep a good photo journal here, so if you see something I should be dealing with while it's being returned to life, please pipe in...

I've got a couple boys willing to help, well sort of, one can't wait to get dirty, and the other will be there as long as there is wifi.... I'm intending to finish up by spring, or somewhere near there.

All right, lets get started...

Don't forget your transmission while you're adding power. It'll be pretty obvious one way or the other on an LB7.

No work on it tonight. I did go check on things and make sure the PB Blaster was working on the cow catcher's bolts.

Zach had my Snap-On sockets mixed up with the Craftsman stuff... We had to have a talk....

The kids a wizz in the barn, 13 years old and he's all but thrown me out of my own shop. His Brother, Isaiah, is a damned fine young man, (15) but he doesn't so much care for the greasy stuff...

Gnight All...

Quick update...
Bumper, grill, hoses, tubes, fan, belt, master cylinder, some wiring, all removed. Fan was a breeze, I researched its removal here, grabbed a chisel and a 2# hammer, 6-10 easy taps and off she spun.

Headed out to the barn now, hope to lift the cab today.
