Small update

Got the truck dropped off last week.

New GM gear box
2 new GM power steering lines
Also replaced a tranny line

Steering is nice and tight now. Made a decent difference for sure.

Newest issue is the security light has been on since we got it back from the painter. Now to go down this road to what’s wrong. Truck runs and drives fine other the light being on.

I've got the same hood. One ground wire (driver's side) from it to the firewall stud.

I think I'm going to add another ground over on the pass side, see if it changes the radio or not.

Welp

This one has no ground wire at all. We might be going somewhere now.

Got a pic of which one and where from? I see the stud on the hood.

It just drops down from the hood to a stud on the firewall, just to the left of the MC in this pic.

I'll grab a closeup pic of the wire in the sunlight tomorrow.

Electrical gremlins. Cold weather is bringing them on.

I replaced the alternator and batteries about a year ago. The old one lasted a year.

This one, the voltage regulator seems to bounce once in a while. Yesterday, on a trip back from the city, all the lights started flickering for about 5 minutes or so, then it evened out. This evening it did it for a couple of minutes. Voltage is floating from 14 to almost 15.

I really don't want to change another. That will be 3 in 3 years. I have already replaced the batteries twice. Batteries are Delco. This alternator is a Delco reman and the last one was a NAPA reman.
