03 LB7 fuel cooler lines leaking

Hello, my return line to the fuel cooler has rusted through and started leaking. I don’t have to drive it at the moment so I removed the cooler to inspect and removed rusted portion and replaced with rubber fuel hose without cooler. I figured that would do for now till I get new lines and i can still move it around the driveway without leaving a puddle. Is it correct that driving is ok in milder temps and not towing? How do you know if it is ok without having a fuel temp gauge? possible damage? I did make a coil and 1/2 of rubber tubing so it maybe would help cooling...idk. Thanks
