I have the itch to get a newer truck even though I have loved my LMM from the start. I am on the fence on either getting a 2016 or a 2017 and starting a build from scratch again. I know I am going to get a biased answer on this but I am also even considering getting a 2017 Cummins. I know I know. I have to stay within my budget so those are really the only three options I can afford right now since I just got my wife a Terrain Denali. lol
I had all intentions on doing so but the salted roads being stationed in Ohio got the best of it and starting to get rust spots above the rear wheels in between the sheet metal so It is nearly impossible to sand down.
personally, if it were my truck, and it was already build how i wanted it, id just do the body work and call it a day. That said, based on the poll options you have, i went with the cummins as im really not thrilled with the direction GM is heading. Go and get your pitch forks... ill just wait over here in the corner. Seriously though, ive done a lot of electrical work on many different trucks and the new rams have REALLY stepped there game up compared to older years. Ive also heard good things about there new transmission design and i dont think even the most die hard duramax lovers would argue that the cummins is not an excellent engine. Also, i think ascetically the new rams are much better looking, but thats just me. Had i not gotten the deal i did on this truck, i was already looking at rams and would likely have switched.
ehhh, ive not heard great things about the older transmissions... If that is the case, id go LML, because at least if the emissions system goes to crap you can delete it without paying 10 grand to do it.
theres all these duramax guys switching over to solid front axles, just steal some of there IFS parts and go the other way :grin2:
If the cummins is not a good option i would go with an LML, as they have more years on the road than the new L5P. Personally i am not a fan of beta testing for GM with a 60-80K truck.
Thanks to those that voted. I went ahead and picked up a L5P Denali yesterday. I don’t mind waiting it out to see if tuning/deleting comes down in price for them.
