air filters - dry vs oiled

It's time to order a new air filter. The one in the truck looks like it's been there for quite a while. The filter material itself is still good but the rubber seals is micro-cracked/pitted/split all around everywhere.

The truck has an AFE Magnum intake system with an oiled filter. I have read several posts here where it was advised to use a dry filter. Why? What are the pros/cons of wet vs dry air filters?

Thanks.

The oil from the wet filters can often coat the MAF sensor causing erroneous readings which results in some weird power issues. I am also personally skeptical of the filtering power of an element thats been washed, dried, and oiled multiple times. It seems to be that the washing process would reduce the medias ability to filter each time its washed.

They're touchy 'bout the MAF...best to stay away/leave alone (not cheap).
Good for the bling, but the OE powercore filter can't be beat in flow or filtration.

Since the Duramax is a forced air system, it doesn't get much better than the stock filter.
