FASS replacement fuel filter numbers

So I've read everything I can find on this site and more on which filter I should be using to replace the filters that came with my FASS Titanium 95GPH. I understand all the discussion on which brand is best, etc. What I am still trying to figure out is what the part numbers are. Here's my confusion.

The manual for my pump, downloaded from FASS, lists four different Donaldson numbers for the fuel filter (stock FWS-3003), two of which say Fuel Filter and two of which say Fuel Filter/Water Separator. This is in addition to numbers for Wix, Fram, and Fleetguard which I am ignoring. They don't list Baldwin or CAT numbers.

The manual also lists two Baldwin and two Donaldson for the Water Separator (stock FS-1001).

Because of this I have no idea what I should be buying, unless I just go back to FASS for replacement filters.

Here are the numbers listed:

Fuel Filter:

Donaldson: P553203 (FF/WS), P169096 (FF/WS), P551311 (FF), and P551313 (FF)

Water Separator:

Baldwin: BF1212, BF1258

Donaldson: P551001 and P558000

Any help would be appreciated. There is sticky that includes part numbers for the Airdog and maybe if someone has some helpful info this could also be stickied or added to a "maintenance parts cross reference" topic.

Thanks.

Thanks for the link but did you read my post? The link you provided has even more options than the original instructions. I am looking for help in narrowing it down since I don't know the difference between the various provided options and which I should be choosing.

Before I switched to the new FASS filters I used Baldwin BF1258 water separator and BF7633 filter, no issues.

FASS recently switched to a new style water separator. It is a glass mat design that traps water in the filter media unlike the older style that the water settles down at the bottom where you drain it out. From what I read about the newer style they work very well the only down side is once they fill up with water they will clog up and not pass anything thru them. With the newer design they switch the locations of where the filter goes and where the water separator goes. Am I really confusing you now?! The only place to get the new style water separator is from FASS. Others here might have a source for them. If you stick with the older original filters and lay out both the Baldwin, Donaldson, and WIX filters are all great quality filters.

The FASS cross reference chart lists all the filters that will work. Yours will be the 1-14 thread. The different filters that are listed also reference the micron size and if it has a water drain on the bottom of it. The general rule for fuel filters would be 5 micron or less. Water separator micron rating is less important but something between 10 to 20 microns would be fine. There extremely cold climate might dictate a bigger micron rating. Hope this helps. Dean
