I’ve seen a lot of posts and nightmares about the turbos on LBZ’s with the vanes sticking. Is it worth it to pull the turbo and clean it for maintenance purposes? Truck has 160,000 miles but it’s daily driven aggressively sometimes. What is the best way to prevent the vanes sticking? TIA!
Pull the turbo and clean up all the hot side moving parts until shiny/smooth then apply a thin layer of nickel anti-seize on those parts. While you have it apart might as rebuild it and possibly add an aftermarket compressor wheel if you like. You can do all of this for a fraction of the $$$ of a replacement turbo.
