I looked at these two part numbers DBL7739 and DBL7483 they are exact in every way so I compared them on the Donaldson website, the only difference I see is with the "Gross" figures so do you think those figure are based on the media or volume?

Looks like there's a limit of 5-1 gallon jugs. So it would be $187.98- $50 Rebate = 137.98 + tax.

Works out to $149.26 for me, makes it $4.66/quart.

"5 rebates per household"

Add "Apt 1A" and "Apt 1B" to your address when you file your claim(s).

I've never had a issue getting two rebates.......

Do you make it 2 orders and then submit them separately?

Yea. You need to get over $99 for the free shipping to kick in, so you need to order something like this as well....

Then submit two rebates and make it look like you live in a apartment complex.....

Wizzy made a comment in another thread how....." excessive filtration can actually remove additives from the base oil"

I looked into this, and found this article.

https://www.forconstructionpros.com/...-of-lubricants

It suggests not going below 15 microns of filtration, to leave all the additives in suspension.

I took two things away from this.

1. The Donaldson DBL7483 is the perfect filter , going by this guideline. The filter is 99.9% efficient at 15 microns.

2. The folks running the "Amsoil Bypass" deal may be doing more harm than good to their engines, as that system removes particles down to 2 microns.

The problem with additives is you do not know what the minimum filtration size is to allow the additive package to work. I run Amsoil in my 04 with dual bypass. The filters on the bypass are the ones they recommend. After 30,000 miles I changed the oil not because of excessive contamination or lack of additive package, I changed it because I was nervous before the sample came back.

Oil blenders should let you know what micron filter is good for their oil as you can pull the good stuff out faster than the bad stuff. It should also be noted that changing the filter excessively will not allow for it to"plug" the in efficient holes and become more efficient causing excessive wear.

Donaldson DBL7483 vs Amsoil EAHD3191?

Cost is very comparable if you are a member.

The only thing that has me curious is the micro specs. Donaldson states 99% at 15 microns, but Amsoil stats 98.7% at 20 microns.

I'm probably overthinking this whole thing... but that's what i do.
