The other end has a crimp collar onto the hard line. Slice the collar crimp and peal it back to remove the flex line from the hard line.

this sounds like something that I"m not going to fulling understand until I start tearing it down. It seems like whatever attachment method is used on the top end could be used on the bottom end so there must be some issue regarding accessibility etc that makes it necessary to reuse the quick clip snap on hardware on the bottom end. I'm just wanting to make sure I buy all the parts I need in advance so that when I start the work I'll have what I need to complete the job.

Think.....Ease of assembly on the line. That's their purpose.
It's a lot easier to slip on a snap lock connection than it is to hose clamp fuel lines.
