There are a lot of counterfeit filters out there, a lot of German knockoffs also. According to my buddy who runs a shop in North Florida, Amazon is currently involved in several lawsuits over this very thing.

Guys, just relaying what the engineer said.
Baldwin doesn't make two different BF46062 filters, never have according to the engineer. This is one of the questions that I asked him and he said that the only change was from the BF9882 to the BF46062. According to him there is only one genuine BF46062, the one that HWI had in his photo. I'm sure it is possible to get a genuine Baldwin from Amazon or ebay but that is probably more like Russian roulette.

man that filter construction is disturbing. I just got a spare AC Delco filter for 27$ (subscription price) off amazon that is prime and shipped and sold by amazon. Would you be interested in adding this to your samples? i dont mind shipping it off. 27$ sounds like money well spent to make sure its doing its job.

This is the link to the filter in question. PM me if you are interested. Otherwise cant wait to see how the rest of these filters compare.

The only rattle my Baldwin 46062 filters I got from Madjacks Diesel is where the plastic threads meet the can.

I have contacted Baldwin and Zoro.com about this filter. I took it off and it does have the US patent number on it.
It appears in every way except missing the secondary filter to be a authentic Baldwin BF46062. I think that maybe there was a failure in the assembly process where ever these are assembled. Someone didn't do there job correctly. At least that is a possibility anyway.

That is a Racor top but the insides are different from the Racor and are not per the patent 2 stage filtering. Once again I bring up the "Assembled in USA" vs "Made in USA". At this point I am going to guess that Baldwin is using the Racor top but are importing the filter media insides hence why you get the rattle and the "Assembled in USA" label. I do not think it is an assembly line failure because Baldwin has great facilities here in the USA and they pull filters off the line to check for quality.

This possibly could be an issue with the merger/buyout that the investors want more $$$ so corners are being cut which in turn screws over all of us end users.

Baldwin has contacted me and requested the pictures. I don't dought your thoughts on quality control on the assembly line. Baldwin make some of the best filters out there. I'll post there finding when I get it. Hopefully there quality control guy was actually doing just that.

Response from Baldwin.

The filter in the photo is correct, the filter was redesigned in June 2019. The bottom of the current design is open so you can see the inside of the pleats. The filter will still function in the same manner as the old design.
I have sent Baldwin the pictures of HWI filters for there review. Waiting to hear back. Guess they changed the design of the BF46062 and is not the original design that HWI had. His date was Feb. 2019 mine in July 2019.

Wow....... personally I think that is a BS excuse for making a cheaper filter while using a Racor top.
