Nitrous questions.

I have a 07 classic gmc 2500 HD with all the normal goodies, efi live by atp, built Suncoast trans with 1056 converter, ad2 lift pump, and so on, everything else is in my sig. The truck smokes heavy at wot on the race tune and I was just toying with the idea of adding say a 50 shot of gas to clean up the smoke. I said if I were to do it I'd want to use a wot micro switch in conjunction with a rpm window switch to make sure everything came on and went off when I wanted it to. My question is, with that small of shot of gas would it be necessary to get rob to mod the tune?

2007 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Efilive by Idaho Rob w dsp5 switch, built trans with gmax 6 and 1056 TC, 150 lift pump, 4in dual exh, s&b intake, tie rod sleeves,DHD centerlink brace, 3in drop shackles, caltracs, pcv reroute, resonator pluged, egr blocker plate, autometer gauges,20x9 0 offset gear 726 wheels and 305/50/20 Toyo proxes st.

You need a bigger turbo before you play with nitrous. Your running out of air is why you can't clean up all the fuel, it's the nature of the beast running a stock turbo max effort tune. Log it & have Rob pull some of the fuel.

Edit* make sure you don't have a boost leak

Never water yourself down just because someone can't handle you at 100 proof

I understand the reasoning of why my truck smokes at wot, and I do agree I need more air, just don't have the coin to drop on the Danville 68 that I want and thought that a small shot of nitrous would solve my air deficiency without breaking the bank and hopefully the motor as well.

I don't think it would be a bad deal. Essentially nitrous is air in a bottle. In the tune make sure you drop some timing off

Do it, you don't need a bigger turbo, that's what nitrous is for. Just turbo in a bottle.

Nitrous for dummies? - Duramax Diesels Forum

Here's some good info on nitrous & tuning. I learned some from it. Sounds like it would do what you want. Never mind my first post

I read that thread! I can get a kit pretty cheap and i think itd be a fun little add-on. My tuner doesnt seem very thrilled about it though so ill probably hold out on it for now.
