Yes there is a fuel pressure port on the fass pump itself. There is a plug in it that gets taken out to install a fuel pressure sensor.

Most will recommend a sump but not necessary. I have a Fass with a PPE pickup on my LB7. Two other trucks I work on have Fass pumps with stock pickups and no sump. Helpful but not necessary.

Could be air coming from your fuel filter housing or bleeder screw. Should not have air in there. Pump up the hand primer and check for any bubbles.

Sounds like you could be dead on with the GPS however I'm surprised it didn't go into limp mode. Could also be a bad throttle position sensor. Hopefully others will be of more help
