Payloads/cargo loads

A little confused with payloads vs cargo loads. I always thought it was the same until I looked at the sticker inside my truck. On the door jam, it says my payload is 3680lbs, but inside my glove box the sticker says cargo load is 29xx lbs. The xx is a number can't remember right now. Anyway, why the big difference?

I'm sure as soon as I get an answer, a light bulb will light up.

Thanks

Gerry

hahahahaha!!!

Okay, I think maybe the light bulb is coming on. So the payload number on the door jam is the overall number I should be looking at...right?

Got it (for payload)....but so why would they want to confuse people (me) and put a sticker in the glove box with a different weight number than the payload?

Ok, just took a photo of the sticker in the glove box. I feel so stupid. The weight on the sticker (2931 lbs) is GM's recommendation regarding the use of a slide-in camper. Then again, it's back to Hook'em Horns Cargo+Butts=Payload. What a waste of a sticker?

long-time-dmax, I think your right - lawyer.

I need a shot of Mezcal. Thanks for response guys.
