Ok I just put a used 01 lb7 in my 03 and we didn't connect everything back together such as the trans, inter cooler hoses, radiator hoses, and trans lines, we set the engine in the hole just to make sure it runs but, as we got it started it was a constant lope, now idk if that has anything to do with all the parts not connected or the guy had done some custom lope switch before I had it but its a problem and I'd like it not to do so. Also it shows no oil pressure, I did not change the oil, but if anyone could help me it would be much appreciated ....

Lope switch probably took out the fuel pressure regulator.
As for the oil are you sure you hooked the pressure sensor up? Im not sure if they are different or not, try pulling the one from your engine and putting it in that one. Maybe the newer engines ecm reads different? Just giving ideas here though

Ok all the wires and connectors are in the same place but the 03 stuff won't fit the 01 stuff, so my question is should I just buy a 01 ECU and everything should plug and play such as the oil pressure sensor? Or has anybody done this one before and can help me out? I haven't got to the lope switch yet but I'm still trying to get down to the cp3

01-02 wiring harness is completely different than 03-04 I don't think the ecm will work

Ok I'm about to pull the engine back out to put this 03 harness in but the only thing is the 03 one has a bunch of other connectors on the passenger side for the emissions or fuel stuff, but I figured I could just tape the ends and call it good but before I do so I'd really like to get a good solid answer, this thing is a headache.

Ok the 01 harness works with the 03 ecm, the only thing is you have to use the 03 oil sensor and wires, just a little custom wire work is needed on the main wire harness to make the oil pressure work, and the FPR works, just had to clear the engine code the old one caused, but other than that it was a good swap, none of that emissions crap anymore, less stuff to work under. Thanks for your help

03 wire harness will work with 01/02 and run..., but you will need to deal with the A/C plug and the oil psi switch & level harness. if you have both harnesses, its easier to keep the harness truck year specific. Also the ECM needs to have the correct OS in it for the year of the truck. You will not have a working A/C or oil psi reading if you have the 01 ECM in an 03 truck (even if correct harness is used).

Just to clarify, did swapping out the oil sensor solve all the issues or was the lope/rough idle associated with another issue. I’m having similar issues with a 2002 engine that I’m putting in a 2003 pickup.

The oil pressure sensor and oil level sensor should not have any way to cause a lope or rough idle. You likely have a different issue causing this

After working on the engine swap some more, I’m starting to think that the 01 harness is causing issues. I’m going to get the 03 harness off the old engine and attempt to see if this solves issues. It has been throwing codes P0202, P0203, P0205, P0208, P2149, and P0522. Truck starts but immediately throws check engine light and sounds like it shuts down cylinders after about 10seconds of idling. Also isn’t reading any oil pressure.

Fuel injector control circuits for injector 2, 3, 5, 8
Injector control circuit fault group 2
Oil pressure too low
Sounds like it goes into what we call ‘kubota mode’
Swap harness and see what it does. Had one do kubota mode to me when it had a bad injector solenoid.

So far I’ve found out that there was definitely some issues with the 01 harness working with the 03 pickup. However, to cover all my bases I went ahead and ohm tested all the injector wires. I found that number 5 injector is out of spec with roughly 2.9, while the other injectors were roughly 0.5. I believe that once I change out the one solenoid and put the 03 harness in that all will hopefully check out. My next question though is can you replace the solenoid without removing the injector?

I currently have a 2001 and swapping with 2003 . I will need the the 2003 harness and ecm and rewire ac to work and have the oil sensor from 2003 to work correct ?
