I believe my starter is going out. Occasionally it will "grind" when attempting to start the motor.

It appears to be quite a tight fit to get the inboard mounting bolt out and then back in.

Does anyone have any tips for getting this bolt out?

Closer inspection reveals that I may have been a bonehead trying to remove the wrong bolts. I was going in between the selonoid and starter body to remove the bolt on the engine side.

Looking at starters on ebay showed the complete unit and where the mounting bolts go.

It does appear to be only two bolts. I thought there would have been three, with one on the engine side. That is why I looked on that side in the first place.

Am I correct, there are only two mounting bolts, towards the fender side?
