I did a little searching before posting.. My wife started my truck while i was gone... went back into the house and it shut off. Went to start it back up and nothing.. It just cranks and that's it! my friend says it sounds like it's not getting fuel. I went to the prime button under the hood and pumped it a few times til it got hard. I then tried to start it and after a few tries and a few minutes later... the prime button is soft again.. could that have to do with anything? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Fuel pressure and injector pulse need to be checked... Injector pulse is checked with a noid light... Likely need to head this to a shop with the right equipment.
If you in Rice MN maybe Sands Truck Service will help. I like working with the independant neighborhood garage when possible and just give the dealer the warranty work.
Thanks for your reply! I'm actually in Las Vegas NV. and as for warranty work.. I don't think I have any type of warranty on the truck.. It's got quite a few aftermarket parts on it. It's just weird how it just up and died on it's own. This is my first diesel vehicle and it's boggling my mind LOL..... Where do I check the Fuel pressure on this engine? And what is it supposed to be? I know diesels have a much higher pressure.. Thanks again!
You may want to try changing your filter first.
I just bought the truck from a private party about 3 months ago... The truck has a dual filter setup and I believe he told me that they were recently replaced.. is there a way to check the filters or should I just try replacing them? Also could that just cause the truck to shut off with no previous symptoms or problems?
Usually clogged filter will show up when truck is worked on hwy. Sluggish somewhat of a miss. To have no symtoms prior to the crank no fire indicates other problems. Fuel issue, crank sensor ect ect... Let us know what you or the shop finds.

Sluggish huh? You know, I did notice then when I would go up in the mountains ( I live in the Las Vegas Valley ) to go snow boarding.. When leaving to go home, the truck is EXTREMELY sluggish. I'm talking you give it gas and a couple seconds later it will start to build boost and the truck doesn't really moooove for a few moments and then all of a sudden when boost builds.. THEN it'll kinna go.. Is THAT normal? Doesn't really sound like it huh?
Try changing your fuel filters. These trucks are picky about their fuel. It ischeaper than taking it into the shop and will a lot of times cure your problems just by changing the filter.
I had this exact problem on a service truck its most likley the check valve in the fuel filter housing had it happen twice on lly's at work with around 100k on them. Gm i believe has the valve for sale if not they can get you the housing also.
This will also cause a sluggish problem due to it loosing prime and getting air trapped in the fuel filter.
same thing happen to me. fuel filter housing was cracked. the part that the primer is on
prime it up then have someone crank it and prime it while cranking if it fires up you have a cracked fuel filter housing or something worse

^^^didnt even see that sorry
You say that you pumped it a few time until the primmer got hard? Did you open the bleeder screw before you started priming? If not you did not remove the trapped air.

Go out and open the bleeder screw and give it a couple pumps "until clear fuel is coming out the bleeder". then close the bleeder and try and fire the truck. If it fires, let it run for a few minutes and shut it off. Now go crack the bleeder and see if there is air back in the system.

Another thought: Is the fuel gauge around a 1/4tank "or lower", and the truck parked on any sort of incline?

Ya, it sounded to me like he just pumped it up but never opened the valve.
