was wondering would an 05 Allison tranny hook up to my 03 wire harness and hook up to my 03 transfer case with out changing anything?

Isnt it the same trans? 2006 is when they went to the 6 speed right? Why do it this way? Just wondering

I need a new tranny for my truck after getting it it's started to leak by the bell housing truck was made in november of 02 so i dont know if it's the bottom bolts inside the bell housing. Also my torque converter is about to puke. And I found a guy with one in Colorado for 850 which I thought was a decent price

What does it being built in Nov 02 have anything to do with it? Just curious

79k miles on it. its just his bell housing is broke so i have to use mine.

yeah mine is still good im just wondering though to swap the bell housing do you have to take those 10mm bolts out that are behind the torque converter?

Like Hellen Keller diffusing a bomb, I have no idea what I'm doing. At least with transmissions. I know there's a write up on here that shows step by step how to tear one down.

I know in 2004.5 when the lly came out they added another solenoid to the trans. The solenoid is called G it was used to control line pressure when the truck was idling.

Some call it solenoid G or 7 here is what it does

Modulated main pressure solenoid (7) is a normally closed solenoid used to modulate the transmission main pressure. Under specific conditions, such as low throttle setting, low engine torque, low engine speed, and low transmission output speeds, the transmission control module (TCM) commands the solenoid on. When the solenoid is applied, fluid is routed to the main pressure regulator valve; this in turn reduces the main pressure schedule and improves the volume of oil through the overage circuit. By modulating main pressure, the cooler flow at idle can be increased allowing improved cooling and reducing transmission pump noise.

alright lime4x4 does this mean that his 05 tranny wont work for my truck because of that solenoid? if so i might ask him to sell me the torque converter and then just fix those leaks on those two bolts since i think thats about all it needs

i was reading a deal on the diesel place about the early allisons having a problem with the two lower bolts in the bell housing that are back behind the torque converter that end up having porosity leaks so you have to get some copper washers to put in there to stop them from leaking. and i guess the deal said they didnt start to do this from the factory tell around aug of 03

^thats exactly what I would do if the whole trans wouldn't fit. Especially since his bell housing is cracked. Depending on how much he wants you may be better off upgrading your torque converter to a dual or triple disk.

i dont i guess it would depend on how much they cost im kind of short on cash because of college and truck payments and phone bill and shit lol. and i guess im not even sure that my torque convert is messed up i think it is though because at 65 on the speedo about 70mph on my gps if i kind of press the peddle hard my rpm just jump almost to tacking out like its not locking up.

Nah I totally understand the financial situation. I'm right there with ya. I think it may be worth the 50-100 bucks at a stealership to have them run any codes you're throwing. (if you're throwing any)

well truck doesnt throw any codes at all only code i had when i got balance rates done was for the ac sensor because i dont think i have enough r134a in it. but i dont know would they throw a check light if the tranny was throwing codes or no?

Not too sure. It's worth searching around here, or a call to the service department, because if you take it up there you run the risk of them saying "we have to take it apart to tell you anything, and we can't give it back because it's not safe for a faulty vehicle to be out on the road."

while i mean the truck runs just fine its just kind of has a leak cause of those two bolts and then it has that weird deal with the torque converter.

Hm.. I'd fix your bolts to start with, and if the other thing doesn't bug you that much, wait a while til you have the money to build it up the way you want. If you want, since there's no sense in doing things twice.
