my old mans truck has been acting up. you can be going down the road and all of a sudden it starts spitting and sputtering and dumping white and gray smoke. it doesnt do it all the time some times its runs awesome and the next second it runs terrible. going to change the fuel filter tomorrow. is there any other common problems with these. oh yeah there are no active codes.

Mine did something similar to that yesterday when I would lay into the throttle. Everyone suggested that I change the fuel filter. If it happens again, then I'll know its not the fuel filter and probably something worse.

well i found the egr valve was stuck open replaced that and all is good now!
