Just so happens, I recently purchased a really nice 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ and was really pleased until I removed a wheel to fix an axle oil leak. I was very disappointed to find 1" wheel spacers bolted to the hubs. Previous owner probably never gave it a second thought, most people don't have a clue how dangerous those spacers can be. It cost me nearly $700 bucks, but I purchased a new set of wheels with the correct offset and scrapped the old wheels. I would never ever run wheel spacers especially on a HD truck. Spacers are simply not as structurally sound as the correct offset wheel bolted directly to the hub not to mention that you now have double the lug nuts to keep tight. The spacers that came on the jeep are going to be sectioned and photographed to show just how little material cross section there really is in these things.

In general spacers are a really BAD idea IMO!
