Boys, I'm tired. But I got the chimney cover built.

Scrap aluminum square tubing (old cabinet framing from an enclosed trailer).

Two 5x10 sheets of beat up 22 gauge stainless steel from the scrap metal yard.

Finished product is 5ft long, 3ft wide, 4ft tall and weighs 115 lbs.

No paint. It's stainless steel outer sheeting with stainless rivets.
Only aluminum is the frame and expanded metal.
Can always change my mind later.

What did you use for a sheet metal brake?

Built a 6'2 brake last Spring out of scrap metal. It worked well for the long pieces.

Shorter pieces needing multiple or tighter bends were done by hand with sheet metal pliers.

Randy, you got some mad fab skills bud! You do drawings first or just hit the job running at full speed and make it up as you go along? To me, it looks like you had an engineer send you drawings and you went off of that, it looks that damned good!

I need to build a metal brake some day soon too. Just a small one about 2 foot wide, may need to ask you for some extra pics of yours so I can copy the design!

Yeah more coming Friday night. No rain in the forecast for several days. We definitely don't get as much snow as you do there. I 90 is a mess. Chains required on all vehicles except all wheel drive.
