My truck will not start. If I spray ether in the breather it will start and stay running all day. Could this be my fuel pump? If so I heard there are two of them. Where are they? Sorry, real new to diesels????
DO NOT USE EITHER ON YOUR TRUCK you WILL ruin it its not maybe but will...try to prime it its a button on top of the fuel filter housing...not trying to sound like an as$ man just that will completely trash your engine trying to give you a heads up
Didn't know about the ether, but I have tried the prime button on the fuel filter housing and it still does not work. It acts like it loses prime after I shut the truck off. Any suggestions?
Just replaced the fuel filter and did not see any damage. This is puzzling. It acts like it doesn't have pressure when I want to start it but once it gets going I am good. How can that be the fuel pump. Sounds like it is probably something simple. Finding that simple is hard.
yea if mine just sits for a day i have to prime it when i go to start it or else it will turn over then die...but i dont know man im still pretty new to the diesel world so beyond the housing filter and all that i can tell you with confidence what it could be..im sorry i couldnt be of more help im sure someone will chime in with a million times more knowledge than me...good luck to you:drink
i would think so but to me i think it would be leaking when its not running or air getting in the lines from sitting? someone will clear this up and tell me im wrong haha
no kidding......waiting on the experts to wake up LOL....I appreciate your help though. This is extremely frustrating. No way its the fuel pump if yoou ask me. I could be wrong.
sometimes not but check that and see what you come up with also open the bleeder screw and pump on it and see if you are getting any fuel up to that point. If its pinced it wont prime at all.
turns over but does not start. Once I get it started it will run all day until I shut it off. Then I can try and start it again right away and it will not start just turn over.
