Please except my apologies if it's already posted I haven't had time to check . We have a 2004 GMC 1500 1/2 Ton 4x4 ,4 door extended cab P/U with 4.8L V-8, 4L60E Transmission and NP 246 transfer case. Then a few days ago we just noticed the passenger's front axle tube at the inside where in bolts onto the ring & pinion housing is cracked and unfortunately aluminum. We've managed to pick-up a complete front axle from an auto wrecker but were told this is a very common occurrence with these type front axles. Is there anyone that manufactures a better , stronger system of any kind to help eliminate this constant problem with these type axle housings? Thanks to everyone for your help and information.
