2006 GMC SIERRA 2500HD

Fuel gauge stuck on full, I just bought this truck and was told it just filled up when I bought it, but after my hour and a half drive home the low fuel message was on dash! I do not believe the used car lot at all about fueling up a 34 gallon tank, no way for these morons. Was just wondering once you see message, how long until emply?
I do know GM's have lots of wiring issues. Also my gauge never moved at all from just past full on a 70 miles trip, so I'm very sure its stuck at just past full. So, messages about Low fuel, how long until empty, or does this not mean much at all?

It sounds like the stepper motor that moves the needle may be bad. It is a common problem on them trucks. I have already driven for 45 minutes to an hour with low fuel Iight on with my 07.

Not sure this is a 911 problem as you can simply fill up to keep you going :) used car lot likely saw full and said "yep we did that" taking credit ha.

Yes likely a stepper motor I replaced all of them in my 04 they make kits to solder the newer updated stepper motors in. I thought they had it fixed by 06 though. (going by your user name assuming its a 2006).
