First of all I am not a GM Hater, and this was my third Dmax from GMC. After having the truck in the dealer over 20 and having them fix none of my issues(while they got a big kick out of the whole thing) it is down the road. After having it at 5 different dealers and being completely unsatisfied with the truck GM would do nothing for me, at all. After they would not help me fix my truck right I even tried numerous times to trade it for a 2012 Dmax. It was funny when I took it in to be fixed they always told me it wasn't broken but when I tried to trade it they told me it had too many issues and they wouldn't even resell it, it would go to auction. It had between 33000 and 40000 miles with a 9' plow setup. The most a GM dealer would give me towards trade( on a $52000 new truck was $22000, I paid $45000 for mine and another $5000 for plow. I just picked up Crewmax Tundra because Toyota gave me $35500 for mine. I didn't want a Tundra but I can only be out of service for so many days when my truck is my livelihood. So far I love it, it is by far more comforatble and has towed everything I've put behind it eith ease( after beefing up suspension, sway bars, exhaust and Unichip). It doesn't have the torque my Dmax had but it does fine with my 9800 min excavator in tow. Empty vs. Empty it would blow the doors off my 10'(not my 05' though). SHAME ON YOU GM!!!!!!! I'm not hating Dmaxes(just mine) but I am hating FAIRFIELDS GMC in KEENE, NH and GM customer service. When I had my GMC's I sold quite a few for you guys and now I will do the opposite. People come up to me everyday and compliment my new truck(cause its awesome) and I tell them all the same thing- I gave up 7 years of GM loyalty because they wouldn't stand behind there product. It will start to catch on. I'm done, so bring on the hating, I know I made the right choice and I will badmouth GM to the day I die. Heyyaa

What will gm do without you? Lol jk. Almost every gm dealer I've been has terrible service (can't comment on others) and it ain't right. Out of curiosity tho what mods Wer on the truck and what kind of troubles were you having?

Not a Dmax hater, actually hated to see it go. It was like a hot girlfriend that was pscychotic, real fun to ride when she kept her issues to herself- but you never know when she was gonna blow up in your face. Or worse key your truck, lol

It was bone stock, I was afraid if I did anything to it GM would blame my problems on the Mods. As far as problems you would have to read my prior posts, way too many to rewrite. In a nutshell engine, tranny, rear axle, front end, front brake calipers, extremely poor power and mpgs definately not normal even for DPF trucks. When it was under warranty they never touched anything that amounted to anything. As soon as warranty was up all the sudden it was an $650 repair everytime and still nothing was fixed. GM will not feel my loss of business but if I can prevent ten people from making my mistake ill be happy. I had problems with my other 2 trucks also that GM didn't stand behind but I couldn't give up that Dmax and Allison package, til now and so far I don't regret it.

yeah yesterday I called the gmc dealer across the road from my office to see if they charged for vin checks and 1) you wouldn't thought I was speaking a whole new language and 2) after he understood what i was asking he had the shittiest attitude ever
He then told me no, but if i were buying a truck from them i would get one, and i understood that and said, "oh okay, well I wasn't sure if you did or not so I thought I would call and ask" and that's when the shitty attitude started and he repeated the "if i were buying from them..."

Yea stealerships are known for their crappy customer service. But with those issues I don't blame you. I'm not sure that that would discourage me from buying GM. Every make/model has their issues/lemon vehicles.

Hell a guy I work with bought a new tacoma and so far the bed is falling off (oilfield dirt roads), as well as a slew of other small issues (steering wheel support gave out so you had to hold the steering wheel up lol) and toyota wont even think about covering it.

What are you trying to say ? You lost me at " I took the truck to the dealer 20 " what does that mean . So you think Toyota dealers are better because they are giving you thousands more than a GM dealer would ? Did you think mabey the things you did to the truck made it worth less to a place that knows there looking at . That is one of the most confusing threads Iv seen and if you think a Tundra is going to hold up better than a HD Chevy for work and towing good luck . It says you were born in a cave , do you venture out of it for school or did you learn to butcher English from under that rock ?

Yes that is true, I understand certain vehicles have peoblems that are out of anyones control. I own my own business and I wouldn't for very long if I didn't take care of my customers concerns. Gm had every chance to fix this truck and they didn't.

Did I mention they sent me the truck with half quart of rearend fluid, after only refiiling it and continued problems they bowed out and said don't bring it back because my problems were due to lack of maintenence and owner neglect. The fluid had been changed 3 times in 28000 miles with GM synthetic 90 weight. That's not Customer service. If your gonna bend me over at least have the common courtesy for a reach around. (Not really that's gross, but you get the idea)

All JMac was pointing out was that your opening post makes very little sense, which is true. That was one of the most long winded posts I have read in a long time that said absolutely nothing.

The Yota dealer gave you a ton more for your truck because they had no idea what problems it had, whereas the GM dealer knew what they were dealing with. It's not that they wouldn't give you a good deal, it's that you ripped off Toyota by trading them a truck that you knew had problems without disclosing those problems. I'm not saying I would have done any different if trading in my truck, I'm just pointing out why you got the better deal.

As for trading a 3/4 ton HD diesel for a Tundra and thinking it can do the same, you may find yourself on the wrong end of that decision one day. I hope not, since you beefed up sway bars, suspension, exhaust, AND chipped it to make it kinda sorta somewhat close to what your previous truck could handle. At least you could have switched to a Cummins. I would find less fault in that.

Thanks Jhill this big meanie is calling me bad names , I was just saying it was a long rambeling pile of nonsence. Kinda reminded me of back in the 80s snorting coke all night babbling nothing till sunrise. The good old days.......not.

Actaully it was a local dealer and the owner of the toyota dealer is a business contact. I told them about all the problems and gave them copies of the paperwork. They will probably fix it because they will try. Trying to actually fix it is something GM never did. Is that short enough for you? Lol.

I only made it long to give the whole story, I guess it made sense to me because I already know the details-sorry

Its all cool Andy Im just bustin , after my 04 F-350 powerstroke dicked me around ( the dealers really, like you ) I was mad at American car companies and afte buying 10 brand new American pickups I got a 2007 Tundra. It was quick but not powerfull and started to hate it and traded it in for my 09 3500SRW. I fell for all the Toyota bs and paid like $1300 off the sticker ( you get $10K off American )because you get it back on trade-in . Thats total bs a used Tundras worth nothing on trade compaired to a GM diesel Pickup. Good luck but I think you will be back in a good old American pick up in no time.

Andy could you please PM me the VIN of your old truck? I want to check the date of something on the build sheet to see if the problems coincide with the build date of parts from another problem truck im working on...

thanks
Ben

And No I am not stupid of course this Tundra won't pull what my 3500 diesel would. As long as I can tow my 9200 Camper, Kubota 121 Exc. , and my Skidsteer I'm happy. I wouldn even try my 350 JD Bulldozer(14500 with trailer) that I used to pull with my Dmax. I know I gave some stuff up but such is life. Yes I could have had everythign I wanted in a Dmax that was running right, its too bad GM gave me a bad one( and didn't make it right)

With as many issues you had didnt you call a lawyer and see about the lemon law,my friend had a 02 dodge 1/2 ton he took it to the dealership three times for the same problem they gave him all his money back and money back for his trade.

Why didn't you take it to a different dealer? I know when my LB7's injectors were going out, I took it to one dealer twice who said they were still in spec. So at that point I went to 3 other dealers and eventually about a month later they were replaced and the only cost to me was diagnostics at each dealer, and $100 to the one that fixed them. Don't get me wrong, it's ridiculous that they screwed you, but why didn't you do yourself a favor and get a second opinion? If your doc said you had cancer and were terminal - wouldn't you ask a second doctor just in case?

I took it to 5 different dealers. Something was wrong with my computer. Probly ten times since new the truck would lose all power and come to a stop in the road. The engine would stay running but not go over 800 rpms and just sit there and blow clouds of black smoke. The harder you pushed the fuel pedal the more smoke. Every dealer would dheck DTCs and since the whole life of the truck it never threw a single code they would accuse me of making it up. One dealers diagnosis was that I hit a bump causing the tires to rub the fenders which caused the black smoke and loss of power-C'mon BS. A 3500 with "Air Lift" air bags pumped up to 75 psi will not bottom out. I've had a pallet of block and 1000# of granite in the back with no squatting. I found that pretty insulting as a diagnosis, why didn't they just say "Piss off Asshole, we aint fixin your truck" -which is what they implied

I had 5 opinoins, I even have a buddy whose a GM tech plug it in and although he admited something was wrong he didn't know how to begin fixing it. There were also numerous smaller problems with just about everything on the truck

I tried everything, I got a lawyer and pursued the lemon law but GM got off on a technicality, being that they never actually diagnosed or fixed any problems more than 3 times. I thought a had a garuntee because I broke brake caliper bolts 5 times but since the same exact one never broke more than twice they got off. Also you win a lemon law if it is 30 days out of service, mine was only counted as 22 days. It was over 30 but some were counted as voluntary for some stupid reason. I.E. They call me on thursday and say the truck is ready but I can't find a ride til Monday(which happened a few times) you would have thought the dealercould have dropped it off if that is the case. It was an extremely time consuming and frustrating ordeal I went thru trying to get this truck fixed. WTF GM?????????????????????????????????????You Suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-sorry had to vent

I can see why people become disgruntled with corporations after this experience. There were times when I wanted to snap, thank god I didn't. And I don't mean Postal. I mean punching a service manager in the "Cap Kisser". I'm actually pleasantly surprised I didn't(can't say I didn't want to though)

I'm a diesel guy, I'm just telling my story hoping to get a response from GM. My plan is to get a 2002-2006 Cummins 3500 Dump truck soon. I need a diesel but unless GM steps up(which I highly doubt they will) it will not be from them. And no they probly won't feel it but I will pass my experience along to anyone that will listen. I probly can't hurt them but it sure as hell won't help them either.
