right now the family business (heavy steel fabrication) has one truck...a 2005 GMC 3500 stake body dura (overloaded sitting there empty) we used to also have a 3500 crew cab long bed dura and 4500 Kodak... both of which we sold.

long story short we are getting more work in the door and getting rid of all the old tired and improper equipment.

so after wadding through all the marketing BS on Chevys website it seems the new 3500 is going to be one mean machine...the question is will it hold up to constant MAX GCVW towing with all the emissions BS still on it? And is it really ever a good idea to buy the first year of anything?

we are thinking of one regular cab dually with a 30ft flat deck tri-axle 21,000 trailer for moving lighter and smaller loads around and a nice tandem axle heavy day cab Pete with a double drop deck trailer for the bigger stuff to save on fright that we now farm out

when the time comes it will be custom ordered as an extra heavy duty truck with a drop axle and all and we don't really have a need for a sleeper besides day cabs just look meaner!

Chev sent me a few Youtube vids to show off the new truck, looks like it will have a new frame, carry more wt on the front end and the HP and Trq should be close to the new ford 400hp and 700ft

Will the 11 models have urea? If so stay flippin clear! Does anyone even know about availability, cost, and how often this crap needs to filled up? I wouldn't want to count on GM dealers having the foresight to get this shit in stock before they start selling the trucks that require it! That would definitely be a consideration of mine. I read they have 9 injectors too. I would have something seriously against buying a truck that has 8 cylinders and 9 injectors.

Yea when I was head up north to GA last November I stop at a truck stop and they had like 4 or 6 gal jugs of it not sure the cost. I hear the tank will last like 10000 miles like 8000 if doing a lot of towing and it only goes into reg at 700 to 800 miles

wow guys do a little reading... the 9th injector is to inject fuel for dpf regen instead of using the other 7 that are not on a power stroke. its to save fuel and prevent cylinder washing.

Yah, that's what I read. I just didn't know How much it would cost and how often it would have to be filled. Even knowing now I still think the best truck out there is a good lightly used 06 without all the shit to cut out!

My truck Just now is what I would call the way it should be sold; without DPF and EGR. I can't wait to see all the bs required to get rid of the urea system on a 2011 and up.

Just my thoughts for consideration to anyone getting a new truck.

The urea injection is all post engine and will have zero effect on performance. The tank is plenty big that it only needs to be topped off during oil changes. So I don't peronally see any negative to it other than the added operating costs.

As to how the truck is going to hold up and should you buy a new model. The power train is only slight modification to a problem system as is the new frame and front end. So I would think it should be a great package.
