I just got the truck 2 months ago and it's my first diesel. During first regen I turned truck off during and when I restarted it and it continued I had a p0420 ended up stopping at 26g soot. So I purchased the biscan app for torque. Reset code and took the truck on a drive. Drove through the next regen on highway without stopping and it went normal down to 13g with zero issues. But when I drive local and have a regen start I will get the p0420 because of the start and stops or rural lower speed drives. Just happened again yesterday, Why would it work when i drive through but not if i turn the truck locally, non highway regens? Would the indirect injector replacement fix this?

Also when does the def level change on display? In biscan it says 33% but it says okay on the dash

Truck is stock 2015.5 gmc 2500 denali 131k

Replace the indirect injector. If the regeneration temperatures are too low, the indirect injector is not working properly.
The DEF level does not read like fuel level.. It's just a sensor that triggers a message when the level gets low..

Perfect. Thank you for the help
I had the same issue with my 2015.5, replaced the 9th injector or indirect and fixed it.
replaced it. And still the same
Lots of issues with P0420 problems. Go here Chevrolet TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) Scroll to the bottom, enter P0420 and select CVhevrolet. Lots to go thru.
I have not found anything related to this issue here is a better description

So changed out the 9 injector with a dorman one. Next regen was fine but the one after I got it back. Temps real slow to rise and if I turn the truck off while trying to regen or constantly delete code the Temps will usually break 600c on egr 2 to start the soot to come down. I still won't have regen active yet because it seems to need 600 500 500 on 2 3 and 3 egr. My temp on 4 is right on the line so it keeps going back and forth from inactive to active under regen on biscan. The numbers will be coming. Down still tho. The first regen after injector change had temps at like 680 580 580
But I can hardly keep it above the numbers needed for regen. The last codes I had were a p0420 and the p24a0. What are the odds of the dorman injector being bad? Or what else could it be? Soot level only goes up to 42 still and I can slowly get them down

Now temps are high enough 600 500 500 and still says inactive while soot is coming down slowly and mpg went to hell. Under heavy acc the status will flick active sometimes. Nox 1 and 2 are equal with 2 being higher sometimes while temp is up. But when temps are normal 1 is higher like it is suppose to be.
