2016 Chev Duramax 3500 HD Oil Pan Leak 90k

Has anyone installed the PPE high capacity aluminum oil pan? GM recommends replacing the pan but they are several months out. I know that GM does not use a gasket on the lower pan to the upper pan. I know that they do make an aftermarket gasket. Has anyone installed a gasket and had luck with it? My thinking is that if the GM sealant was so good why is my oil pan leaking with only 90k on it and so many others leaking.

90K you're lucky. Many LML's leaked before that mileage and some right after they were bought with low mileage. GM in the factory must not have either prepped the surface good enough or didn't allow the sealant to cure long enough. I believe the instructions recommend 12 to 24 hrs to cure.

I had a shop replace mine with a Bananna Pan which is similar to the PPE at about 60K. The shop used the GM sealant and no gaskit. I believe but not sure the shop fully torqued the bolts to what they should be after it cured.

I did it. I’ve got a ‘14.

Pricey but I do like it. No regrets.

I installed one on my lly last October from dmaxstore. I like it so far. However if your truck is lifted you are in for some heavy amounts of work as you are removing your front suspension and cv shafts and dropping the lift kit front section. Took me about 8 hrs but I also did new extended travel cv axles and suspension, and new lower control arm bushings and ball joints. And that included about 4 hrs of drying time on the rvt silicone for the oil gasket

Update: I ended up not using the gasket and just used the black permatex sealant in a can. The instructions told me to use loctite blue on the pan bolt threads and torque to 89 in lbs. Worst part of the whole thing is that the oil is very dirty and the old pan was a pain to get off.
I put one on and used the gm sealant. No leaks that i can tell that was a few years ago.
