Whats up my Duramax pals., SO today I received a letter from gm stating if you own a 2016 GMC Duramax I believe this applies for 14-17 Chevys 2500, 3500 Duramax models also. This letter was intended to make you aware 2016 GMC Sierra models have a condition which causes an offset in temperature sensor in diesel emissions reduction fluid (DEF) tank reservoir or causes def heater performance to degrade. IF this occurs the Check Engine light will illuminate the "service Exhaust fluid system or "Service Emissson System Message will be displayed, and a diagnostics trouble code related to the condition will be set. (THATS FROM THE LETTER FROM GM) MY TRUCK HADE THIS EXACT PROBLEM AT 24000 MILES,SO I STRAIGHT PIPED IT. So now I can get a new whole exhaust and DEF system for my truck would display these exact codes. So anyone with a 2016 GMC Duramax you can call 1800-462-8782 customer assistance Center. They also are REIMBURSEMNET REQUEST FORMS I GOT ALSO!!! SO TAKE ADAVANTAGE MY FELLOW DURAMAX PALS.:grin2:

Not sure what needs to be taken advantage of? My guess is, if you straight piped your truck you negated any emissions warranty replacement considerations. GM is not likely to reimburse you for anything having to do with any emissions systems problems if you modified/removed stuff and they would probably make you grovel even if your truck were bone stock.

good luck:laugh: This post makes zero sense, you're "straight piped" which means you're tuned, you plan on putting your stock exhaust back on, towing it to dealer to get a free stock exhaust system?? What are your plans when they see your ECM has been tuned? The letter you got was to replace DEF heater for 10 years or whatever mileage ( don't remember)
